Joost,

SDC is using 6 digit Ncusip and Compustat.funda is using 8 digit cusip.

accroding to this webpage data, linking from cusip to Ncusip table:
http://ihome.cuhk.edu.hk/~b121456/tools.html

i am taking the first 6 digit of ncusip (mached from this table) to match SDC data.

My question is, when i cut the ncusip to 6 digits, do i lost the property of single ncusip linked to single company/stock?

I would guess no, otherwise 6 digit ncusip will not make sense from SDC data.

Thanks!

hi Zenghui,

I did a quick check at cusip.com. The first 6 positions uniquely identify the issuer. The following 2 positions identify the issue (debt, equity). The nineth position provides a mathematical check.
Info on cusip

So, 6 digit Cusip would work fine to identify a company.

best regards,

Joost
