Hi everyone,

I am new to CRSP so I hope someone can help me out here.

I need to obtain the age of certain firms from CRSP.

The paper I follow states “Firm age is constructed as the number of years the firm has existed on the CRSP database.”. However, I am not sure how to get this from CRSP.

Can anyone please please help me out.

I will be grateful forever smile

Thanks,
Milica smile

Hi!

I am also new to WRDS. Maybe a stupid question, but where can I enter the lines of code from your URL on the WRDS website?

Best,

Robin

hi Robin,

WRDS has web forms that allow you to select variables from datasets and download these (in Excel, Stata, SAS, etc format). Also, they have set up a SAS server that allows you to code SAS on your own computer, which can run code on the WRDS server (rsubmit) and retrieve it. So, basically the code here is SAS code.

Hope this helps,

Joost
