Hi,

Is it possible to download complete datasets, for example like IBES ACTPSUMU_EPSUS (https://wrds-web.wharton.upenn.edu/wrds/tools/variable.cfm?library_id=40&file_id=53655). I can see an option to download a 1000 observations, but I’d like more.

The reason I ask is because I can see the data I require on the dataset lists but then when I go looking for it, by using the toolbar links, I’ll either not be able to find it at all, or the variables list will be slightly different.
Unfortunately I don’t have a unix connection to download data directly through SAS, which would probably make my life a lot easier.

Best Regards,

B

hi B,

SSH secure shell has both a ‘shell’ (terminal) and ftp (file transfer) module: http://www.ohlone.edu/org/webcenter/sftptutorial/windowssftp-downloadinstall.html

With the ftp client, navigate to:  /wrds/ibes/sasdata
(this is the folder that holds IBES datasets).

The files are in SAS format, so if you need another format, use Stat Transfer to get it into another format after download. You can also use SAS on wrds. WRDS has some tutorials on how to do that:
https://wrds-web.wharton.upenn.edu/wrds/support/Accessing and Manipulating the Data/_002Unix Access/
(Support => Accessing WRDS => SSH & Unix). You won’t need SAS installed to use this.

Hope this helps,

Joost
