Hi everyone,

I have a small question about the detail adjusted file in IBES(FPI=1):

Analyst ticker   fyear anndats   actdats     revdats   fpedats   measure   value
0   @0005 2014     12may2014; 14may2014;    15sep2014;    31dec2014 EPS     2.03
0   @0005 2014     01may2014; 07may2014;    07may2014;  31dec2014 EPS     1.57
0   @0005 2014     03apr2014; 03apr2014;    11dec2014;    31dec2014 EPS     2.02

In the example above, which observation is the analyst’s latest forecast? In other words, among the three dates,“anndats, actdats, revdats”, which one should be taken as the
date that decide the latest forecast? Particularly, I am still a little confused about the meaning or function of revdats in the dataset.

Thanks for your attention and help.

hi Jasmin,

I checked with some other people, and it turns out the ‘revdate’ is not a ‘revision’ date, but a ‘review’ date. If the analyst revises (or confirms) their forecast, another entry is added in the detail file. Still, it is not clear what the ‘review’ entails. It seems that people I talked with do not use this variable.

Anndats is the date a forecast has been issued by the analyst, actdats is when it is entered into IBES.

Hope this helps,

Joost
