Hi,

I wonder what’s the difference between the 10-K numbers and the Compustat numbers. Most items differ substantially. I know that Compustat restates the data somehow. Is it possible to figure out what is restated by Compustat compared to the original annual report? What numbers shall be used for a proper company valuation?

I have also noticed that some numbers from Compustat financial statements do not add up as they are stated in the file. For example, I found the following:

3,250.000

+260.000
+100.000
-351.000

=2,839.000 (—> this number can actually be found in the original 10-K while the ones above cannot)

How is this possible?

/edit: I just figured out that the top-line (sales) and the bottom-line (net income) are always (?) the same (Compustat vs. 10-K) while the items in between usually differ. That’s weird!

Thanks
