Hi Joost,

Just wondering whether it is the same screenings for cleaning bank_funda as the ones used in funda,
i.e. (indfmt==“INDL”)  & (datafmt==“STD”)  & (popsrc==“D”) & (consol==“C”)?

I tried to get some SAS sample programs in wrds, but I couldn’t find any. Did I miss something?
For now, I need to construct variables including size, market-to-book, book equity to assets (a leverage measure).
I guess it should be pretty much the same as constructing these variables as using funda. That is to use at for size,
at + (prcc_f * csho) - ceq) / at for market-to-book ratio, et cetera.

Thanks!

hi Nan,

I remember industry format (indfmt) for banks is ‘bank’ (or ‘BANK’).

best regards,

Joost

Hey Joost,

One more question. I have to extract from funda accounting information for several financial companies (such as, gsubind=Consumer Finance, Regional Banks, Consumer Finance, and
Investment Banking&Brokerage;). I guess that I should select (indfmt==“FS”) to make these variables comparable to those extracted from bank_funda, right?  Thanks a lot!

hi Nan,

Actually, I don’t know (haven’t used this data). Going back to the original 10-K filing would be a way to make sure the data is what you need.

best regards,

Joost
